PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Challenge

VanCafe is a well-known brand in the Volkswagen Vanagon and Bus community, offering thousands of parts for restoration, maintenance, and performance upgrades. Their legacy WooCommerce site had reached its limits — slow page loads, inconsistent product data, plugin conflicts, and a fragmented customer experience made it difficult to scale. The catalog itself was a major hurdle: years of inherited product data, duplicates, missing attributes, and inconsistent naming conventions created friction both internally and for customers.

Puget Digital led an end-to-end transformation: migrating the store to Shopify, rebuilding the product taxonomy, rewriting catalog structures, and implementing a clean, intuitive shopping flow designed specifically for enthusiasts working on classic vans.

Catalog Restructure & UX Improvements

The core of the project was stabilizing and modernizing VanCafe’s product ecosystem. We standardized product titles, created consistent naming rules, organized categories around practical repair workflows, and consolidated duplicate and outdated listings. Because VanCafe serves a niche but highly engaged community, parts needed to be easy to find — even for customers unfamiliar with OEM naming. This required a UX approach centered on clarity, searchability, and visual consistency. The new Shopify architecture eliminated plugin bloat, improved load times, and created a foundation that VanCafe can continue to scale without technical debt.

The Solution

The new Shopify storefront delivers a smoother, faster, and more reliable buying experience for a customer base that depends on accuracy and clarity. The improved catalog structure makes it easier for users to locate parts by system, repair type, or vehicle generation. Clean product templates, organized collections, and simplified navigation reduce friction and support higher conversion rates.

For the VanCafe team, the migration eliminated constant maintenance struggles and created a cleaner backend workflow. With Shopify’s stable infrastructure and a refined product database, the brand can now focus on growth — not troubleshooting.
