BigCommerce Development
Catalog Engineering
B2B Quoting + ERP Integration

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Challenge
BAVCO is one of America’s most respected suppliers of commercial lock parts, door hardware, and access-control components. Their catalog spans thousands of highly specific SKUs, each requiring precise technical attributes, compatibility details, and manufacturer-specific metadata. Their previous ecommerce setup couldn’t handle the demands of technical buyers - contractors, locksmiths, facility managers - who depend on accurate filtering and fast product identification. B2B workflows such as quoting and bulk orders were also limited.
Puget Digital partnered with BAVCO to modernize their entire digital infrastructure on BigCommerce, implementing a refined catalog system, custom ERP integration, B2B quoting functionality, and seamless PartsFinder integration to serve both professional and consumer buyers.
Technical Catalog Cleanup & Structured UX
BAVCO’s product data required deep restructuring—standardizing attributes such as function, finish, compatibility, model numbers, and manufacturer references. We consolidated duplicates, normalized naming conventions, and engineered variant logic to support products with highly technical specifications. Navigation was rebuilt around the workflows of locksmiths and technicians: search by brand, function, door type, or product family. We then integrated PartsFinder, enabling precise part identification through diagrams and exploded views—a critical tool for BAVCO’s audience. BigCommerce was extended with: 1. Custom ERP data sync (inventory, pricing, order handling) 2. B2B quoting flow for professional buyers 3. Dual-mode storefront supporting both retail customers and trade accounts
The Solution
The new BigCommerce storefront delivers a fast, reliable, and highly structured buying experience designed specifically for technical users. Buyers can now identify correct parts with far greater accuracy, submit quotes, and access specialized product data without friction. PartsFinder integration dramatically improved search success rates, while the cleaned catalog architecture ensures consistent, predictable product presentation.
Operational efficiency also improved: BAVCO’s internal team now works with a stable BigCommerce backend, automated ERP workflows, and a catalog built for scaling. The result is a modern, professional, and high-performance ecommerce system aligned with the needs of industry buyers.
